I Want to be Jewish

Be all that you can be.

This story starts with something breaking. Just one more thing breaking at our house - nothing to see here.

Tonight, it was her headphones. The little Sony MDR-ZX110's aren't made to withstand the trials and tribulations of a 5 year old and all the damage those tiny fingers of destruction can create.

And I know this is hard to believe, but I didn't have a pair of headphones that were available that she wouldn't destroy. All my headphones are in the kilobuck category:

ZMF Headphones
Heirloom quality wood headphones crafted in the USA.

And she's not getting her hands on those. So now what? I had thought about soldering to fix them but I don't have solder or to the skills so that's out. The fix is to buy another 10 dollar pair and hope we get some time out of those.

This means we had to listen to her tablet make it's noise all night (not to fear, new headphones are on the way) and tonight's noise was both Christmas and Jewish themed. I don't think you can combine those two - but I am no expert on any religion so I dunno...

She had the following song on repeat:

Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel
I made it out of clay
I can't wait for it to dry
so that I can play

Dinnertime comes around and I finally get her off the tablet and she wanders into the kitchen and states:

" I want to be Jewish"

Umm..okay? How about you just sit down and have dinner for now and then we'll take it from there tonight. It's Friday - Dad is tired. I'm not up for religion of any kind. I didn't even get a nap today.

We get her to the table for dinner and thankfully the religion change is forgotten by the 2nd bite. I have no problem with her becoming whatever she wants, but how about not at dinner for any major life choices. Also, you just finished your first full week of school. That's enough.

One thing at at time. Tonight, we shall make it to bedtime.

After she was in bed (well.. in the bedroom quiet. I am still calling that a win) BW and I played scrabble and I won - which never happens and I also broke 300 which also never happens. So win-win.

About the Jewish thing: Sure, no problem. You can do you.
