Plumbing. Continued
That's it. I'm building an Ark
I thought we were over this.
I mean we spent a lot of money and effort trying to get my basement man cave dry and up and running again, and now this.
I found a new leak. To be fair it's an old leak that we were ignoring for the longest time but it has gotten worse over time so it's time to do something. The problem is that when somebody showers some of the water ends up in the laundry room below. I'm no plumber but I am sure this isn't supposed to work this way.
In the past, we just let it drip as it was going into the basement and it was literally a few drips. The child does more damage with spills and unauthorized water play on a normal day anyway so this was no big deal. But when we had visitors here I found that the leak was worse.
We call a plumber. The good news is it turned out not to be plumbing related. The bad news is it still happens and we're not 100 percent sure why. Water is sneaky, I tell you.
We think that water is getting in behind the faucet handle so the plumber added some caulk but after the caulk dried it still leaked so now I'm at wit's end with this problem.
If you ask me I think the kid was a little skimpy on the caulk and I'm going to add more. This seems awful light and our bathroom is dated and needs a makeover anyway so if my caulk job isn't the best - whatever. As long as I can fix it cosmetics are pretty much secondary at this point.
The final fix might be a bucket. The leak is in the laundry room so I just have a plastic garbage can there anyway I will go back to my old method of water remediation as it was working for years.
When she got home from school today she wanted to go on adventure find with a small shovel and a bucket so we roamed the neighborhood for a bit and then went to the park. We found a few leaves, dandelions and rocks.
Then we went to the park.
Lastly, the good news to end the week is that our dishwasher has fixed itself over time. I wish it had decided to do this before I had to spend hours on the phone trying to get somebody to fix it and now I have to figure out how to cancel the service call.
We have a toilets that flush now, and a dishwasher that works again. If we get that leak figured out we can be back in business.
Until next time,
