Three Wise Men
These guys were really smart
I was thinking about these guys as I watched my five-year-old have another fit in the hallway testing the boundaries and failing miserably. She is still not listening and I have no idea why. It's the same thing every time, she doesn't listen at all and then has a full-on tantrum when the results are not what she wanted.
While this was all going on it dawned on me what made the 3 wise men get out of dodge and go follow some star in the sky: It's because they all had children at home. Probably screaming children. Multiples, I bet too.
Think about it: Wise man number one (We'll call him Larry) is at home with screaming children and he looks out the window sees a star. He figures he might as well go outside where it's quieter to figure out where that star leads. It's a lot quieter outside so he takes a few steps towards it.
Then he realizes that the distance is further than he thought so he calls up his buddy wise man number 2 (we'll call him Dave) and asks Dave if he wants to go for a walk. Dave replies OMG YES! Anything to get out of the house!
Then Dave says "Let's call Steve and see if he wants to come (wise man number 3) and of course Steve has a big family too so he's in of course. He could use some quiet too.
Great. Where are they going again? Oh, right - the star.
So they started to walk to the star. As they walked away from town they stopped hearing the screaming of children and just heard the sound of their footsteps
Then Larry thought that maybe they could get something as a gift - you know, just in case. "A gift?" Dave replied "What for?"
"You know, just in case there's a cover charge when we get there" replied Larry
"What were you thinking of getting? asked Dave.
" I hear Frankincense is very popular this holiday season", says Steve
"I've got some gold in my pocket" says Dave
"If we stop at the 7-11 I can pick up some myrhh" replied Larry.
It was decided. After a quick stop for some myrrh the three would be off on a big adventure and to see where that star leads.
Only God knows what they would find.
