The Play Date
4 kids and unlimited paint. What could go wrong?
This was BW's idea to host a play date here. I just wanted to get that across now.
Back in the day, I don't remember play dates. I remember coming home when the streetlights come on. Times have changed.
Now a play date doesn't just involve the kids. Adults come and stay. Do you know what happens when adults stay? You have to host and offer a water or drink or snack and then you have to talk to them too.
Long gone are the days when you just dropped off your kid for a few hours at Billy's place and then the next time it was Billy's turn to come to your house. That way every parent got a break.
But now it's different and it's a shame as I feel the kids don't have much free time to play. Somebody's always watching making sure they're on their best behavior at all times.
Enough ranting. The kids had a great time and that's all that matters. We covered the wall and kitchen table in kraft paper and handed them dollar store paints, some glue sticks and pom-pom's from the dollar store and then let them at it.
BW bought some modeling clay and some cheap cookie cutters and had them make Christmas ornaments for the tree. It was a really cute idea.
Then we had brownies and milk. (coffee for me of course).
If that wasn't enough fun, then they had a blast jumping on beds and playing hide and seek until they could hide and seek no more.
It was dark by the time they all left for the day.
We may be the old parents, but we're the coolest too. We let your kids draw on our kitchen walls.
Come on over, we have lots of paint. We even have a kid to play with.
You just have to go home when the street lights go on.
